take a look at your current portfolio, do you have a specific patterns, interest? passion, types of work done 

then according to your specilisation got look at industry outlook, go and look for what jobs are there specifically and look at what skill sets are the industry looking for. Go to linkndin and look at the skills they are looking for and what kind of position are they looking for for say skills and look at company values stuff like adaptability. Can look into jobsearch, company website etc 

then compare what work you have and see if it matches the job requirements 

If skills and work done match industry requirements, think of any additional skills which would be required or useful 

If skills mismatch time to develop your skills in the area

Portfolio wise do you want to go deep or wide in your porfolio. 

smaller company normally go wide, bigger companies go deep and need niche skills
