WEEK 1 - ARRANGING CLIPS
For this week we had to arrange the clips in premiere pro.

MINTS ARRANGEMENT EXERCISE

this exercise was fairly simple as all the videos were already labelled correctly

DORITOS ARRANGEMENT EXERCISE

For this exercise we are to arrange the clips in the correct order as they were mixed up.This exercise can be tedious and frustrating due to hoe short some of the clips are. This taught me the importance of labelling footage correctly when we eventually have to edit our own content later.

SEQUENCE OF CLIPS

Types of Shots in Filmmaking:

Extreme Wide Shot
  • A broad view of the surroundings around the character.
  • Conveys scale, distance, and geographical location.
  • Wide Shot
  • Often includes the entire body.
  • Used for establishing shots.
Medium Wide Shot
  • Cuts off at the knees.
  • Shows the point of view of the subject.
Medium Shot
  • Allows viewers to follow the story.
  • Focuses on subjects important to understanding.
  • Shows gestures and expressions from the waist up.
  • Hands and lower body fall outside the frame.
Medium Close-Up
  • Connects the viewer to the character.
  • Typically used for main characters.
  • Cuts off the top of the head.
  • Over the Shoulder

  • Mainly focuses on the face.
Extreme Close-Up Shot
  • Zooms in on a specific portion of the face.
  • Magnifies details such as the eyes or lips.
  • Foreground and Background
  • Add depth to the composition.
  • Allow for reframing when a nearby subject is blurred.
Filmmaking Techniques:

Rule of Thirds
  • Using the foreground to add depth.
  • Angling the camera to create diminishing and converging parallel lines, preferably to the right.
  • Adjusting the subject's height for eye-level angles.
  • Using low angles to depict dominance.
  • Employing high angles to make characters appear smaller, hungrier, weaker, confused, or childlike.
  • Adhering to the 180-degree rule when filming from one side.

TASK TO DO DURING CLASS
  • Create 8 video shots, each lasting 5 seconds.
  • Focus on landscape compositions.
  • Ensure a soft background and avoid positioning the character too close to it.
  • Utilize zoom techniques to enhance the shots

TOP 3 FAVOURITE STOP MOTIONS

PARANOMAN

I like ParaNorman as a stop motion film because it is a creative and fun way to tell a story that combines comedy, horror, and drama. Here are some of the reasons why I enjoy this film:

I admire the technical skill and craftsmanship that went into making the film. It is the first stop-motion film to use a 3-D color printer to create character faces, and only the second to be shot in 3-D12. The film has a lot of detail and texture, and the animation is smooth and expressive.
I appreciate the original and witty script that was written by Chris Butler, who also co-directed the film. The film has a lot of humor and charm, but also tackles serious themes such as bullying, prejudice, and forgiveness.

WENDELL AND WILD

I like Wendell and Wild as a stop motion film because it is a hilarious and adventurous story that showcases the amazing talent and vision of Henry Selick and Jordan Peele. Here are some of the reasons why I enjoy this film:

I marvel at the artistic skill and innovation that went into making the film. It is the first stop-motion film to use a 3-D color printer to create character faces, and only the second to be shot in 3-D12. The film has a lot of detail and texture, and the animation is fluid and expressive.
I appreciate the clever and original script that was written by Selick and Peele, who are also producers and voice actors of the film. The film has a lot of humor and charm, but also tackles serious themes such as redemption, friendship, and family. The film also pays homage to classic horror films and tropes, while subverting some of them

CORPSE BRIDE

I like Corpse Bride as a stop motion film because it is a beautiful and touching story that showcases the amazing talent and vision of Tim Burton and his team.
