Week 10: Intro into After effects

 LECTURE

Introduction to After Effects - Lecture Notes

•After Effects is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing.

•It is used in film, TV, and web video creation during the post-production phase.

•After Effects allows the manipulation of imagery through various effects, enabling the combination of video and images in a scene

•Motion graphics animation in After Effects involves manipulating vector and rasterized art to create a story, which can include physical-based media such as photographs and videography.

•Pre-compositing in Adobe Photoshop involves transforming still images into moving images, while pre-compositing in After Effects involves animating layer sequences from various elements and platforms.

•Photoshop is used as a platform for compositing layers, which need to be arranged and renamed for easy animation in After Effects.

•After Effects can import elements like images, videos, and vector files that need to be synchronized with external software platforms like Photoshop and Illustrator.

•After Effects files do not embed media, but rather link to it

PRACTICAL

We had to animate a collage that was given to us using Adobe after Effects

My animated version- https://youtube.com/shorts/klRPP9974z0?feature=share

I found this to be quite difficult to follow the steps but I eventually got the hang of it. I enjoyed that I could add movement and tell a story through the animation.

IDEA DEVELOPMENT FOR SELF TITLED PROJECT

                          1) 2)

                             3)   4)

These are the 4 poster references I really liked and wanted to base my work on. I really liked the first poster reference design because the boys in the image are staring straight at the camera to give the effect that they are looking at the veiwer to create a sense of connectivity to the audience

For poster reference 4 I liked the clone idea I found the image to be striking and interesting to look at.

In the third poster reference the woman with the afro is the focal point and water is running from her hair as it turns into aspects of nature which I felt was really cool and shows the connection between african women and their "roots".

In poster reference 2 I liked the blended look and felt like I could use it in my work
