INSTRUCTIONS

Task 2: UI/UX Design Documents

After locking down their App concept and idea, students are now ready to proceed to UX design. The students are required to produce a comprehensive UX design document which will provide better directions for them to design the app.

Documents should include:

  • Purpose and Scope
  • Target Audience
  • Problem Statement
  • App Weaknesses
  • Survey and Interviews
  • User Personas
  • User Journey Map
  • Research Insights
  • Card Sorting Exercise
  • Site Map
  • User Flow
  • Features List
  • MVP Identification

Process

In week 7 and 8 we were told to come up with questions for our surveys and interveiws so I proceeded to come up with the questions for the survey and interview.

Survey questions

Interview questions

interview questions

During Week 10, I distributed the survey to people for responses. It was not that challenging to collect responses, it took me 5 days to gather 61 responses

In Week 11 , I  interviewed people and recording their responses. I did a total of 3 interviews and was able to collect relevant feedback.

n Week 11, I also conducted card sorting exercises through optimal workshop. I had a total of 21 cards and 7 pre-defined categories. I collected a total of 12 responses. I began to compile my documents on a slide deck.

Card Sorting Standardization Grid

In Week 10, we finally had an in-person class and I could get feedback for my survey and interview analysis. Mr. Zeon recommended picking the top 8-10 questions, and for each question include a graph and data analysis.

I then began creating my user personas based on the interview and survey results. After which I was able to create my User Journey Map.

REFLECTION

Experience

I found this task to be very challenging and time consuming it requires alot of research and connecting with people. I got frustrated by the amount time each part if the assignment took. I enjoyed doing the card sorting though.

Observation

I observed the importance of good time management and not leaving things for the last minute as it becomes overwhelming trying to complete things in last minute. I also observed that following the time Mr Zeon had allocated for each phase would have made this task more bearable for me and in future I will follow it.

Findings

I found that in order for people to fill out surveys and card sorting and all sorts the best way is to reach out individually and not send surveys on groups.
